Welcome 2022

New Year's fireworks as a symbol for the start of 2022

Happy New Year 2022 to all of our readers and visitors.

This year will bring change again, and that’s a good thing. In our industry, standing still is one of the fastest ways to fall behind.

A look ahead at WordPress in 2022

So what does the new year have in store?

Work, communication, and content will continue to move through digital channels, which makes it even more important to communicate clearly with customers, prospects, and readers. In our view, one of the most reliable ways to do that is still a blog, whether it’s personal, editorial, or business-focused.

That also makes 2022 a good time to modernize your WordPress site. WordPress is expected to go through one of its biggest shifts in recent years, with full site editing moving much closer to mainstream use.

What does that mean? In practical terms, that means WordPress is moving closer to the editing experience people already know from page builders like Elementor or Divi. More visual control will be built directly into WordPress itself, without requiring the same level of dependence on third-party page builder ecosystems.

That sounds good, doesn’t it? Yes, but there’s a catch: before you can really benefit from it, your site and theme need to be technically up to date.

We want to walk through that transition ourselves and share what we learn along the way. We’ve already taken a first look at the early beta versions of WordPress 5.9 and started digging into full site editing. Over the coming weeks, we’ll begin building our own full site editing theme and document the process here in the blog.

So stay tuned.

See you soon.
